Knox County GOP 2010 Biennial Convention

Dear Reader,
Please be our guest at the 2010 biennial county convention and municipal caucuses. The details are below regarding the times.

This year we are hosting, during the convention, a panel of Republican gubernatorial candidates beginning at 1 p.m. followed by brief statements from the Congressional candidate(s) as well as our local candidates for the state senate, state house, county commissioner, county sheriff, Judge of Probate and District Attorney.

At about 3 p.m., we will break into individual town (and city) caucuses which will be visited by our local candidates. I have asked the candidates for governor and Congress to respect the towns and not circulate during the caucus period. However, be assured they will be there before and after to answer any questions you might have of their candidacy, their positions on a wide ranging number of topics and (politely) request your financial support for their campaigns.

I do ask that those attending the town caucuses to please bring your checkbooks. I make that request for two reasons: (1) those who wish to attend the 2010 Maine Republican Convention on May 7-8 will need to make a payment of $25 for the priviledge and (2) our clean election candidates will be requesting $5 checks ($10 for a couple with a joint account) for the Maine Clean Election Fund. Through your cooperation, our candidates will be able to complete their obligations in a timely manner.

Sincerely,
Bill Chapman, Chair
Knox County Republican Committee

Referendum Questions

The Republican Project has put out their votes on these 7 questions. I agree with each except #3 RUS repeal & #5 the medical marijuana act. If you take drugs out of the equation of our country's slide into today's Leninism over the past 45 years there would be no slide period. It all started with the dope smoking Beatniks spreading guilt of American success to the youth of that era.
This is the 21st century for pete's sake, is the medical profession so moribund they can't extract the THC and other properties out to assist in ameliorating the pain and suffering? Morphine came from opium plants originally and Codeine from Cocaine. The medical mj is a joke as California is finding out and eventually they will expose and stop the madness.

The school mess will always be just that if any public union is allowed to exist. They run the budgets, end of story. If you don't think so try a real budget cut or even a faux cut of an increase (still an increase). The RUSsian school system now in place would work if Il Duce would drop the hammer on the unions and corrupt administrators that have scurried away to other job titles in the same system. Prosecutions would be helpful here. He had a good idea but did not deal aggressively with the union agitated "home rule" baloney. If he did we would have seen a good change. If the state provides the funding through the deranged school funding formula they can run the organizing of the SAD's, SU's, and now RUS's. There is no local control in Maine from the DEP running the Planning Boards to this or any of the past sick excuses for an education system, we need to recognize this loss in order to change it.

Tabor Question #4 is coming soon if not this year. The Bureaucratic Budgetary Dictatorship is coming to an end with the idiot baby boomers finally taking their pious Prius' into the sunset and out of power. Everyone knows the budgetary tricks of cutting the in your face line items to scare the public into no cuts at all. Think of it there has been no true cuts in the budgets for at least 25 years! Baldacci has only cut increases in spending not the underlying baseline or the actual useless program. Right now only a Democrat could propose even that! Pitiful to say but at least we have that.

As with anything "if the Union Thugocracy is against it I'm for it" attitude turns out to be a pretty good guide to life.

NY-23

Finally, let's get it on! This Scozzafava individual above all other agent provocateur RINO's needs to be booted. It's good to see Gov. Palin leading the charge on this one but equal in magnitude in the disheartening direction Newt was on the wrong side again. This won't be as wounding to him as RomneyCare will be to it's namesake, but it's another brick in the wall. He periodically reveals himself to be so disconnected from the man on the street almost as much as Soros and his Democrats. A good highlight is his inital and fleeting gut reaction was to be in opposition to ending the drilling ban, he did end up with supporting Drill here! Drill now! after some apparent poll numbers nudged him in the right direction. Of course the electronic health records photo op with HRC is the first of many good reasons to question his initial reactions to anything. Although, once he is pointed in the right direction by polls or advisors he is very good for the movement and overcomes his beltway virtual reality helmet prompting with great initiatives such as American Solutions.
The NRA is supporting her because she is proven with an A, even though the Conservative Hoffman and even the Jackass both sport an AQ from the NRA Victory Fund questionaire. Every fellow NRA member in NY-23 should support Hoffman since Scozza is absolutely insane on every single topic you can imagine! Remember Gillibrand was an A also and look how she has been extorted into a radical liberal by the Jackass Thugs in D.C. If Scozza wins she'll cave under the extortion as well, so the A is useless as indicated by her stances on everything else.
Good Luck to Doug Hoffman he can do it now that the tide is turning. Otherwise where is the loss? Where?

Maine Open Gov.org

This is a great tool to reclaim this state from the bureaucratic budgetary dictatorship that has been in power since 1972 at all levels. It is our Howie Carr for the corrupt State of Maine finally.
Let's see Appleton up 153% in the last 9 years! We are proudly 9th in the state for property tax increases. Thanks goes to the trustfunded clique that shows up at town meetings to send thousands to governmental dependent quasi "enterprises" that aren't even in this wonderful town. Yes, yes, I know we need more people in opposition at the town meetings and in the town officer positions. Any ideas how to get our 200 Elephants to defeat their 800 Jackasses?

A quick read...

A good possibility why our only choices have and are the bobbsey twins Snowe/Collins, written by Bay Buchanan.

Huntsman to China

Talk about volunteering for oblivion. Does he think he'll be successful in freeing a billion people from their elitist villainy and central planning? He can go and speak Mandarin all he wants, at least the fine state of Utah is not being left in the lurch, they seem to have an improved situation under Herbert. Interesting how he will resign without being confirmed, this has to be the result of a strategic manuever by the over confident dems. By the way Utah is one of my top five "escape to" states if Maine turns into a total socialist cesspool like California or New York.

I am reading Red Decade by Eugene Lyons a former communist writing about the large Soviet influence on America in the 1930's, reading this after FDR's Folly you can see that Obama is trying to resuscitate that era and complete the New Deal's cradle to grave mission. Unfortunately, all of his shock and awe has been done before and in relatively greater magnitude. As FDR gave many of the public works project monies to Western states to change their votes to him after '32, so too Obama is not content with his win and wants to augment it for a generation by picking off Republicans hither and yon while plinking the harpsicord and singing the praises of Lincoln, the founders, and bloody footprints in the snow at Valley Forge.

Another good read is The Mitrokhin File which is a compendium of copious notes by the Curator of the KGB archives covering 1917 to the late '80's who defected to Britain in 1992 with many crates of files. Among the myriad of information it shows how close they came to beating us in the 1970's and that detente was an economic victory for them: we fed their proletariat and they upgraded their missiles with MIRV's. Most importantly it tells how FDR's administration was riddled with real KGB spies.

Pelosi? What's to say? Everyone except those who solely rely on MSM for news were aware that Congress not just Madame Speaker was briefed in 2002 on these interrogation methods for the murderers. The real question is why does Obama want her gone? She hasn't gotten the results from the House he wanted in the first 100 and she is incompetent on the campaign trail not to mention her own carbon footprint in the air. Also the radicals are at the gate on this one and want results about the percieved torture since they have paid for the dem party out of their trustfunds which took a giant hit in this orchestrated economic downturn, recession, depression, apocalyptic black hole, etc.

Gregg to Commerce

Politico.com is reporting "Newman would likely caucus with Republicans, but conservative New Hampshire Republicans fret that she would vote less like the conservative Gregg and his former colleague John Sununu and more like Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins, the two centrist Republicans who represent Maine in the Senate."
Is there anybody who hasn't had the bipartisan kool-aid? Gregg is a conservative? This is of little consolation. The naivete being revealed is revolting.

Judd Gregg, Snowe, Jeffords, et al

Does he think that he's going to change Democratic or bureaucratic hearts and minds as SecComm as Cohen supposedly tried to do as SecDef? Or act as some firewall?
The only possible impact he could hope to have is try to prevent another Loral type transfer of critical defense technology to the People's Republic of China (no not Cambridge) or beat down the global warming zombies. Snowe seems not to be blinded by Obama's presence in the capitol city, so far. They all appear to be oblivious to or not concerned about a filibuster proof Senate for at least the next two years. It is either starstruck naivete of a President (let alone Sun King Obama) handing them a higher calling or thinking they can somehow make a difference in this supposed team of rivals. At any rate, it's just more pathetic baby boomers with no principled existence in this life.
What is Jeffords doing these days mumbling to himself while milking cows? This reminds me of what these Rino's are really thinking in regards to the party faithful: the great ignorant, perhaps racist, perhaps communist witchhunting unwashed. There must be some virtual reality helmet each moderate republican senator has the Dems weld to their head when they arrive in D.C. that causes them to "finally open their eyes and see what the Republicans really stand for". Maybe its just the Dems, Dem bureaucracy unionists, & Dem media sensory deprivation tank that is and has been D.C. that re-educates them to lose faith with what they previously believed in or never believed in the first place.
At least Norm Mineta was a pro america Dem military vet and a reasonable individual from what I've read. Still a Dem after the FDR internment camps, very interesting.

As sent by Knox County Chair Chapman,
Just a quick reminder that Maine Heritage Policy Center's Fiscal Sanity Tour is at the Samoset Resort in Rockport on February 5. The details and how to sign up to attend are below.

Augusta lawmakers want to spend $840 million more than they collect in taxes; and many are proposing higher taxes so they can keep on spending! If you would prefer a return to Fiscal Sanity, come and hear about Maine's Spending Addiction and the Road to Recovery.

You will learn: · What Top 40 state programs have exploded in the past decade while 550+ others have remained flat?· Where does Maine spend so much more than other states, and what do we get for it?· What state agencies are overstaffed and/or overpaid, compared with other states?· What should be done (by you and by lawmakers) to create a state government taxpayers can afford and which respects individual liberties to make Maine better, freer and more prosperous?
The Fiscal Sanity Tour is coming to your area:

Mr. Steele

Mike Steele is the new RNC chairman. Althought the info on the web is old he was semi-waivering on Iraq in 2005-2006, not exactly saying he was for victory. He has the usual suburban upper middle class fence sitting views on major topics, but he seems to be on the edge of understanding that something is not quite right about the television stances on current events that are driven into every viewers psyche. I believe he is not unlike me fourteen years ago: someone who was brought up in liberal surroundings but one or more life altering events has started him on the road to realizing what is most important about this country...
